Designing Ruby’s nontoxic bedroom was a project I poured my heart into. She’s growing up so fast, and her one request was simple: “I want a pink room!” As a holistic mama, I knew this space had to be more than just cute and colorful—it needed to be clean, safe, and truly support her health. Kids spend so much time in their bedrooms, from bedtime to playtime, so reducing the toxic load in this space was a top priority. I stuck to budget-friendly options and handpicked everything with intention to create a dreamy, low-tox environment—and I’m so excited to share what worked!

Color-Drenched & Safe: ECOS Paint Makes the Perfect Pink For A Nontoxic Room

One of the highlights of Ruby’s nontoxic bedroom is the dreamy pink shade we used from floor to ceiling—“Ruby’s Eye” from ECOS Paint. This color-drenched look made her space feel magical and cozy, but I was most excited about how safe it was. Unlike conventional paints, which can off-gas VOCs (volatile organic compounds) for weeks or months, ECOS is a zero-VOC paint that’s made without harmful chemicals. That means no harsh smells, no toxic fumes, and a safer space for Ruby to sleep and play. For any parent creating a nontoxic bedroom, ECOS is one of the best choices out there.

Organic Bedding from Quince: Clean Sleep for Growing Kids

Sleep is sacred—especially for growing kids. That’s why we made sure the bedding in Ruby’s nontoxic bedroom was as pure as it is comfy. We chose organic sheets and a mattress protector from Quince, and I can’t recommend them enough. Our skin absorbs what it touches, especially overnight, and synthetic bedding can contain pesticides, flame retardants, and harmful dyes. Organic bedding eliminates those risks, giving our little ones a cleaner sleep environment. In a truly nontoxic bedroom, organic bedding is a non-negotiable must-have.

Solid Wood Furniture: Non-toxic & Customizable

When picking out furniture for Ruby’s nontoxic bedroom, I focused on solid, unfinished wood pieces. This type of furniture is naturally low in toxins because it doesn’t include synthetic glues, veneers, or chemical-heavy finishes. Plus, it gives you the option to use a nontoxic stain or paint to make it customizable. It’s a clean, affordable option that grows with your child—and it looks beautiful too. You can find all the safe furniture we used over on our LTK page, already linked and ready to shop.

Creating a nontoxic bedroom doesn’t have to be overwhelming or super expensive—it’s about making intentional swaps and investing where it matters most. From breathable organic bedding to low-tox paint and solid wood furniture, Ruby’s new room is now one of the healthiest spots in our home. And yes, it’s so very pink—just like she dreamed!
