Seed Cycling: A natural and affordable approach to balancing hormones with food

Updated: Nov 7, 2023

The clients that come to us for hormone help are on a mission to naturally rebalance their hormones. We often recommend seed cycling because it's a great addition to supplements, diet, and lifestyle changes to support the body in rebalancing progesterone and estrogen levels. Without these two hormones in balance, we can experience many symptoms. Including but not limited to acne, painful periods, PMS, thinning hair, irregular periods, headaches, bloating, and so much more! The best part... it's safe, effective, and has no harmful side effects. What's not to love?! So here's how to seed cycle so you can start implementing it ASAP! ⠀

Seed Cycling Instructions

During the Follicular phase: days 1-14 (first day of bleeding) start with 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds and 1 tablespoon of flaxseed. Every day for two weeks. During this phase estrogen is the star of the show! These seeds help to support estrogen production and also helps to flush out any extra estrogen (think estrogen dominance).

During the Luteal phase: days 15-until next first day of bleeding. Stop the other seeds and start with 1 tablespoon of sesame seeds and 1 tablespoon of sunflower seeds. During the luteal phase progesterone is the star of the show. This hormone is extremely important for our fertility wellness clients. Progesterone helps to prepare the uterus for pregnancy after ovulation.

Additional Tips:

If your cycle isn’t regular and you are trying to regulate it. Follow the moon phases. And start with new moon! Yes this is a real thing! You would start day 1 on the day of the new moon. It's best to buy whole seeds (store them in the fridge) and grind the seeds into powder form to release all the nutrients and help them to be more easily absorbed! We find it easiest to put in our morning smoothie or sprinkle onto a meal like oats, salads, and soups.

It takes time to rebalance your hormones to be patient and kind to yourself during this journey! Give it a few cycles of consistency to see benefits. ⠀
