Easy Homemade Butter Recipe: Say Goodbye to Inflammatory Oils

Are you tired of store-bought butter that is laden with inflammatory oils and potential hormone disruptors? Look no further! Making your own homemade butter is not only incredibly easy but also allows you to control the quality of ingredients, ensuring a healthier option for you and your family. Plus, it's a fun and rewarding kitchen project that anyone can tackle. My kids loved this kitchen project!

Why Make Your Own Butter?

Many store-bought butters contain oils like soybean or canola oil, which can contribute to inflammation in the body when consumed regularly. Additionally, non-organic dairy products may contain hormones as they are given to cattle in factory farms. By making your own butter from organic heavy whipping cream, you can avoid these unwanted additives and enjoy healthy delicious butter. Here is my favorite homemade butter recipe.

Homemade Butter Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pint (2 cups) organic heavy whipping cream

  • Optional: pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Pour the heavy whipping cream into a food processor or blender. Make sure the appliance is clean and dry.

  2. Blend the cream on high speed for 8-10 minutes.

  3. After a few minutes, the cream will thicken and turn into whipped cream. Keep blending until you notice a separation between the butterfat and buttermilk. This process is called churning. At this point, I recommend covering the mixer with a kitchen towel to prevent splatter.

  4. Once the butterfat has clumped together and separated from the buttermilk, stop blending. You will be left with a solid mass of butter surrounded by liquid buttermilk.

  5. Strain the buttermilk from the butter using a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Save the buttermilk for other recipes (like ranch dressing or pancakes) or discard it.

  6. Rinse the butter under cold water to remove any remaining buttermilk. This will help preserve the butter and prevent it from spoiling.

  7. If desired, knead the butter on a clean surface to remove excess moisture and incorporate salt or herbs for flavor.

  8. Shape the butter into a log, block, or any desired shape and refrigerate until firm.

Take Charge of Your Health

Are you concerned about inflammation in your body or potential hormone disruptors from non-organic dairy products? Consider taking an at-home inflammation or hormone lab test to assess your body's inflammatory and hormone markers so you can make informed decisions about your diet and lifestyle.
