Protein Energy Balls

Updated: Oct 21, 2020

In our homes we typically avoid snacks like prepackaged granola bars due to all the added sugar and other inflammatory ingredients. So we find the best option is to make our own healthy snacks! This recipe is a favorite of ours. It's super quick and easy to make! We also love knowing/controlling what goes into our snacks. This recipe is also a fun one to make with your kids. It helps to keep them busy while also getting them familiar with the kitchen and cooking healthy food! This recipe is amazing because it can be easily changed and still turn out amazing! Try swapping out the nuts or adding different ingredients for a different taste. The options are endless. But other things to add or swap could be flaxseed, grass fed collagen, local honey. More of these ball recipes to come because they are too good and easy not to share with you all!

Ingredients

5 organic dates 3/4 cups of raw cashews (Try adding some Brazil nuts for some thyroid loving nutrients) 1 handful of raw almonds 1 tablespoons raw cacao powder

1/2 teaspoon of organic ground cinnamon

A pinch of sea salt

1/4 tsp baking soda (aluminum free)

1 handful of dark chocolate chips (we recommend this brand)

Directions

In a high powered blender add dates (remove pits) and pulse until smooth. It will form a sticky ball. Next, break up that ball a bit and add in cashews (or nut of choice). Pulse until crumbled and sticky. Once crumbled, add in almonds, cacao, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda and pulse a few more times until almonds are broken up! Lastly, add in chocolate chips and pulse a couple times to break up just a bit.

Now it’s time to roll the balls! Use a spoon to dip out a small amount of mixture. Add it to your hands and roll it into a ball. Once you have all the balls made, place them in the fridge for a bit to harden or eat as is! I also like them frozen!!

This makes 10-12 balls depending on how big you make them. Store them in the fridge in a glass airtight container. Consume in 5-7 days. These are so yummy and taste like cookie dough so I doubt they will last in your fridge for 5 days! Our family has them eaten in about 3 days! For a bonus nutritional boost try adding our favorite Daily Nutritional Support Powder to your protein balls! We hope you enjoy these healthy protein energy balls as much as we do!
