Healthy-ish Apple Crisp
Fall treats are the best treats! At Balanced Friends we thrive in the fall with all things cozy. This is one of our all time favorite recipes and a must make during the fall season. We are firm believers that life is all about balance. Believe us .. the Balanced Friends have our fair share of treats and making them at home allows us to put our healthy spin on it. All recipes can be made healthier by choosing cleaner organic ingredients whenever possible. We hop you love this apple crisp as much as we do!
The Tasty Crumble Topping
1c Gluten Free Old-Fashioned Oats
1/2c Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
1/3c Coconut Sugar or Stevia
1 dash Pink Sea Salt
1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/3c Grass Fed Butter (softened)
The Gooey Apple Filling
1/2tsp Ground Cinnamon
1 scoop Collagen Powder (grass-fed/pasture raised)
2tbsp Cashew Milk or (Oat Milk/ Almond Milk)
1/4c Pure Maple Syrup
1/2 Fresh Organic Lemon Juice
2tbsp Grass Fed Butter (melted)
1tbsp Gluten Free All Purpose Flour
Use organic clean ingredients whenever possible to avoid unnecessary toxin exposure and synthetic hormones. Heat oven to 375 degrees. Place all topping ingredients in a bowl. I used my hands to mix in the soft butter with the dry ingredients but you can also use a spoon. Place the topping mixture in the fridge. Rinse and dice the apples for the filling. I left the peel on but you can remove it if you wish. Place apple pieces and other filling ingredients in a baking dish. Mix together with a spoon. Spread the crumb topping evenly on top of the apple mixture. Bake uncovered until the crumb top is golden brown. I cooked it for about 35min. but cooking times may vary.
