Healing Drink Recipe

After spending all last week on vacation in Mexico eating all the treats and drinking all the Coronas... My body is craving all things healthy! Towards the end of my trip I experienced symptoms like acne, bloat, acid reflex, loose stool, stomach cramping, gas, brain fog, low mood and energy. So, the first thing I did this morning (my first day home from vacation) was spend all my money at Whole Foods buying all the things for gut health, skin health, digestive health, and anti-inflammatory! Exactly what my body is demanding of me to create balance after vacation. This healing drink is a favorite of mine for many reasons. It's packed full of real healing power. I really should have titled this post the DO IT ALL DRINK! Below you will find the recipe along with some BONUS ingredients for an extra boost! I personally find it easier to make a big batch of this and store it in the fridge so that I can quickly heat up a cup each morning to wake up my digestion and start the day off on a healthy note.
Organic Fresh Ginger
2 Organic Lemons
Organic Ground Cinnamon
Organic Ground Turmeric
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
I did not measure any of the ingredients for this recipe because I find it easier to make it to taste and fun to experiment! So let loose in the kitchen and have some fun playing with real food!!
1. Add all these goodies to a pot on the stove top and bring to a boil. Simmer for 20 minutes or more to allow all flavors to release and blend together.
2. Let cool and store in an air tight glass container in the fridge. Consume within 3-5 days. It's important to AVOID PLASTIC storage to lower your toxin exposure, decrease cancer risk, and protect your hormones.
All of the ingredients above play a big role in overall health. Cinnamon, turmeric, and ginger are highly ant-inflammatory and aid in digestion. Lowering inflammation is key to overall health because inflammation is at the root of all illness!! Lemons are full of vitamin C and antioxidants that help in boosting immunity, healing the skin from within, and even anti-aging. And of course filtered water is necessary for hydration and many systems in the body. But BEWARE OF DIRTY TAP WATER (a topic for another day or visit our Instagram to learn more). Collagen Powder is great for joint, skin, and gut health. ACV has natural probiotics which are healthy bacteria for the gut. Healthy gut bacteria is essential for overall health, skin health, and leaky gut. Raw Honey is a prebiotic which is essentially fertilizer for the probiotics. Raw Honey also proves to be helpful with allergies, fertility, and even makes a nice healing face mask! Who knew one little drink could be so powerful!?
